New Orleans crash kills 1
On April 5, New Orleans authorities reported that a 27-year-old woman was killed in a car crash on Interstate 55. The state police reported that the woman had been involved in another accident and was outside of her vehicle when she was struck by a 2003 Toyota.
The deceased woman was reportedly traveling north on Interstate 55 in Ponchatoula at 4 a.m. when she became involved in a crash with a Volkswagen. Both drivers pulled over to the left shoulder and parked with their vehicles slightly crossing into the left lane. Both drivers were reportedly standing by their vehicles when the Toyota slammed into the 27-year-old woman.
The driver of the Toyota was identified as a 43-year-old Kenner man. He was taken into police custody and was charged with vehicular homicide, driving under a suspended license and careless driving. Authorities reported that they believed that he was under the influence of drugs when the accident happened, though they were still waiting on the toxicology reports to confirm their suspicion when news of the incident was released.
Whenever a car accident occurs, there is always the possibility that those who were involved could suffer serious injuries or even die.
