Man killed in crash in rain
A 19-year-old man was fatally injured in a two-car accident on April 24, according to a report from Louisiana State Police officials. When the fatal collision occurred, investigators say that the road conditions were rainy, and the man had been attempting to pass in front of several vehicles. Troopers began investigating the crash just before 5:30 p.m.
The fatal car accident took place in St. James Parish while the 19-year-old man was driving southbound on LA 3127 in a Chevrolet Camaro. When the driver tried to pass a few cars that were in front of him, he lost control and his Camaro started to spin clockwise. A 51-year-old man who was driving northbound in a Dodge Ram hit the Camaro on its driver’s side door.
Following the accident, the St. James Parish Coroner’s Office declared the Camaro driver dead at the scene. The driver of the Dodge was taken to Lake Hospital where he was treated for moderate injuries. Both of the drivers who were involved in this accident had their seat belts on. It is not yet known whether either of the drivers were impaired, as toxicology test results are still pending.
