Most common causes of commercial vehicle accidents

Louisiana residents may be curious about the repercussions of large truck collisions. Commercial trucks may pose unique threats to smaller-sized vehicles during an accident. Truck drivers should be extremely cautious while on the road, and other vehicle drivers should be aware that not using extra caution when driving near a large truck could lead to a collision.

In most cases, truck drivers receive extensive training before being allowed to drive for a company. Many collisions that involve large trucks may be the other driver's fault because they may not realize that a truck has specific vehicle limitations, such as visibility allowances and braking time differences. A collision can be caused by a variety of factors, such as a driver merging into oncoming traffic and forcing the truck driver to have to brake, not slowing down when a truck is attempting to change lanes or driving between two trucks. A driver who is experiencing trouble with a car and does not pull off to the side of the road all the way may also be in danger of an approaching truck.

There are a number of accidents caused by negligent truck drivers as well. Due to the nature of a job that requires incredibly long hours while in a seated position, large truck operators may find themselves fatigued while driving. This could create a situation where they have difficulty concentrating on other drivers or do not follow the necessary safety practices.

If a driver becomes injured in a truck accident, they may have certain legal actions that can protect them as they recover. A personal injury lawyer might be able to help them understand what measures can be taken with regard to financial compensation.
